Day Seven: The Reality of God's Kingdom

They will tell of the glory of Your kingdom and speak of Your might, so that all men may know of Your mighty acts and the glorious splendor of Your kingdom. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Your dominion endures through all generations. The LORD is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made.
--Psalm 145:11-13

Lord God, Your Kingdom is mighty and great, and You remind us in Your Word that Yours is different from the kingdoms and governments of our world.  You reign over all people, over all rulers, over all powers.  You are exalted above every authority, and You alone give authority to anyone who has it. 

As our nation looks to the elections this fall, may we  remember that we have a higher allegiance than to our humanly-ordained government.  May we remember that we are citizens of Heaven whose destination is known!  Remind us that we will gather around Your throne one day, and until then, we serve Your purposes in our world.  Amen.
